OMV Serbia and Caritas Serbia are preparing teens for the future

  • OMV Serbia and Caritas Serbia partners in the project "Get ready for the future"
  • Helping young people to gain practical work and life experiences
  • OMV supports business development and progress for its best workers

With the integration of teenagers from socially vulnerable families into independent life "Get ready for the future", commenced in 2016, OMV Serbia continues its good cooperation with the Caritas of Serbia. The aim of the project is to help young people to overcome the challenges of independent living and doing business without compromising their education. The intention of this project is that young people, besides their school knowledge, enrich their practical experience.

It is expected that the project will also help OMV Partners from filling stations to better understand the socio-economic situation in their communities and, in cooperation with professional psychologists, to help young people find a life-course. So far, eight teenagers from Belgrade, Novi Sad, Aleksinac and other places in Serbia have passed through the project.

„OMV as a profit organization strives to use resources and capital in the most optimal way. For us, important elements in business are the satisfaction of workers as well as the conditions and atmosphere in the workplace, along with possibility of training, learning and promotion at work. We are trying to give credit to those who show the potential," says OMV Serbia Retail Manager Nikola Bozalo on this occasion. "For all this reasons, we are happy to have the opportunity to join and help this important Caritas project," added Bozalo.

Today OMV Partner Network at 62 filling stations in Serbia employs around 800 people, of whom 23% work more than 10 years. There are number of examples of young people who started as forecourt workers or workers at the cashier, then advanced to the position of Shift Managers at stations, and finally came to the position of the filling station Partner and had the opportunity to run their own company, taking care of some new young people.

The corporate culture of the company encourages the provisioning of equal opportunity to everyone. At the company headquarters in Serbia, with 20 employees at OMV Retail Department, seven of the trainees are still employed after demonstrating willingness to learn at their job at the filling stations.
