  • Employees of OMV Serbia planted trees on an area of one hectare of forest this year as well

  • Through afforestation actions, OMV supports the long-term goal of reaching 41.4% of Serbia's forest cover

  • We are constantly contributing to the achievement of goal number 13 of the United Nations for sustainable development called "Climate Action"

With the aim of continuing to contribute to the neutralization of CO₂ emissions and the preservation of Serbia's natural wealth, a team of OMV Serbia employees, in cooperation with the public company "Srbijašume", planted 2,500 black pine seedlings on the slopes of Rudnik on November 15, i.e. an area of one hectare.

Afforestation has great potential in the fight against climate change. The restoration and planting of forests is an effective natural climate solution that can contribute to a large reduction in the emission of harmful gases by absorbing and accumulating carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. For OMV, the reforestation activity complements the carbon reduction targets set by the company. All activities aimed at neutralizing CO2 and preserving nature are also imperative for OMV Serbia. With the action of afforestation of areas in Serbia, OMV confirmed its strategic determination to make its own contribution in the fight against climate change, as well as to support the long-term goal of reaching the desired forest cover of Serbia of 41.4% through more intensive afforestation.

The volunteer activity of OMV Serbia in cooperation with JP "Srbijašume" during the previous years included the planting of 2,000 black pine seedlings in the area of the village of Draglica on the slopes of the Zlatibor mountain and 2,000 spruce seedlings in the area of Čestobrodica in eastern Serbia, and this year 2,500 black pine seedlings in Rudnik. In this way, together we contribute to the achievement of goal number 13 of the United Nations for sustainable development called "Climate Action".

OMV thus continues to work on the most important issue for our industry in the future - climate change. We have taken an active approach towards the successful repositioning of OMV in a low-carbon world and are fully committed to the Paris Climate Agreement. We are actively transforming our product portfolio by increasing the share of low-carbon products and working on innovative solutions that contribute to the energy transition and circular economy, such as ReOil®, mechanical recycling, and bio-oil co-processing.
